About Us

Phapano is a non-profit organisation founded in 2024 to support psychology students in South Africa through mentorship, community, and access to information and opportunities. We believe that meaningful change in mental health begins with those who choose to enter the profession and how they are supported throughout that journey. Our goal is to make the path into psychology clearer, more inclusive, and more connected to the needs of South African communities. The name Phapano, meaning “the difference”, reflects our commitment to creating lasting impact by investing in future psychologists who are passionate about service, representation, and transforming mental health care from the ground up.

Our Vision

Empowering psychology students to thrive and lead by embracing diversity, fostering inclusion, and making a lasting difference in the field of psychology.

Our Mission

Phapano is dedicated to supporting psychology students through mentorship, resources, and community. We are committed to creating more equitable access to the field by helping students navigate their journeys with confidence, clarity, and a sense of belonging.
